Court Finds `forgiven' Loans To Insurance Agents Were Income

A West Australian life insurance agent has lost his Federal Court challenge to a Tax Office ruling that agent development loans on which repayments were ``forgiven" or waived should be treated as either assessable income or capital gains for tax purposes.
